The Global Young Greens are a network of young people, most of them with only little ressources apart form their energy and imagination.

In order to keep the network alive, we have to be supported by Green organisations, Parliamentarians and Companies. Especially the upcoming Congress in Berlin will cost a big amount. We wish to thank those following:

Dear Global Young Greens,

you are warmly invited to come to the 2nd Global Young Greens Congress! It will take place from 8th to 14th of August 2010 in Berlin, the capital of Germany.

If you come to the congress, you will have the opportunity to run for the board election, vote on our statutes and activities, and have your say in how this GYG will work. You'll make loads of friends and will probably discuss until the sun rises again. I basically guarantee you'll have the time of your life.

The first principle is that nobody gets a free trip to Germany. We expect all participants to fundraise for themselves. Global Young Greens will have a small central fund that may be used to assist participants who need it. For more information consult our website. But if you really want to attend the congress, then don't count on that!

We recommend you to start the process as soon as possible - organisations need time to budget. If you leave it until later in the year could leave you out of options. So the sooner you get started, the more chance you'll have.

Global Young Greens will ensure accommodation and food during the congress. There will be a participation fee to partly cover those costs: Participants from the Global North will need to pay €180, whereas participants from the Global South will have to pay €30.

Member organisations of GYG should name their delegates preferably by 1st of June 2010.

So, how to go about getting yourself to Germany? Luckily your prep team has put together an information pack to help you do exactly that.

To be part of this Global Network is really thrilling as we are part of the most important Global movement of the 21st Century. Climate Change, Sustainable Bio-diversity and Economic management are some of the biggest topics we will be discussing in our lifetime, and as Young Greens we need to understand how best to move forward. One of the best ways is to brainstorm with our peers Internationally to best develop as a Global team and to help solve the complexities of our societies on our shared baby Planet. GYG is an organization in its infancy, but one which plays a leading role as we blossom to become a vibrant Youth initiative of vision, hope, prosperity and cultivated ideas.

Niamh joined the GYG Network in January 2009, as an FYEG Representative as a result of her passion, drive and commitment to the Global Green Objectives of our time. She became a full-time Political Activist in April 2008, as a result of Cultivate's,(The Centre of Sustainable Education, Dublin, www.cultivate.ie), ‘Skilling Up For Powerdown' educational weekend which covered all the topics of Peak Oil, Global Pollution, Climate Change, Biodiversity Crisis' and Economic alternatives etc. She worked diligently to raise public awareness, and to motivate Greener Lifestyles especially within an Urban context for greater social responsibilities. On 4th June, 2008, Niamh joined the Irish Green Party, where she was soon nominated as the Dublin Central Communications Officer. At the acclaimed, ‘Green Summer University' in Frankfurt/Oder, August 2008, she became formerly introduced to the FYEG Network in August 2008 and joined soon after. She has represented Ireland at the ‘Green Economic FYEG Training Weekend', December 2008, again in Serbia as a prep team member with CDN and at the European Green Party Election launch in Brussels, 2009. Niamh is currently working on a Masters in Public Culture, and has an Honours Degree in Fine Arts.

Dear Global Young Green Activists!

You think Global Young Greens (GYG) is a great thing? You would like to meet people from all around the world? You are keen to discuss green issues until the sun is rising again? Then this is the event you have to attend:

From the 8th to 14th of August 2010 the 2nd Global Young Greens Congress will take place!!!

Where? In Berlin, Germany. It will be held at the Heinrich-Böll-Foundation (the German Green Foundation) which offers its location to us. This is in the center of Berlin! We will sleep close by in either a gym or (if you pay for it) in a hostel.

What's it about? During the Congress there will be space for
restructuring GYG
electing a new Steering Committee
trainings
workshops
open space for discussions and getting to know each other
finding common positions and vote on them
parties
a city tour
a lot more

How to get there? That is your own choice - but of course you should chose the greenest way possible! In general, you will have to pay for your own ticket. There are lots of possibilities how you can fundraise for yourself. More details can be found soon on our website: www.globalyounggreens.org If you live in a country, that is not called "industrialized" you may apply to a central fund, which is extremely limited, from January 15th onwards. The application includes a motivation letter outlining why and how you can contribute to the Congress. More details about the application process will be sent out in an email in December and you'll find them soon on our website.

How to get involved? Go for it! The Congress is organized by an international and a local preperation team. We still need loads of helping hands - so get started and join one of our working groups (http://www.globalyounggreens.org/Sp...):

The Fundraising Group raises funds to help you out paying for your flights.
The Content Group plans the programme for the Congress: At what time should be what? Which workshops will be offered, which trainings can be useful and who can be the facilitator of the workshop or training?
The Web & Mobilization Group updates the website and makes contact within organisations that may want to be involved with GYG.
The Structure Group is working on a few proposals for the new structure of GYG, which will be voted on at the congress. To be part of this group it is useful to have some experience in the current structure of GYG or other similar organisations.

We would love you to be involved in helping us organise the Congress as there is a lot of work to do! There are many ways to help, so if you do not want to be part of a working group, you may be interested in running a workshop at the Congress, or you have other brilliant ideas.
