Hello peoples from around the green globe!
In Germany, we are discussing the two issues right now. One concerning Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage (CCS) and the other evolving around the question of "food vs. energy" or "How much biomass/-fuel can we grow?".
The German Green Youth ist agains CCS at all and the German Green Party disapprove of it as part of a german mitigation strategy.
We are still discussing the biomass-problem. The Parliamentary Group (Bundestagsfraktion) and the Greens in the European Parliament don´t have a common line, yet. By the way, I read an interesting article about it in Foreign Policy (May-June 2007) today.
So what do your Green Parties and what do your Green Youth Organizations and what do YOU think about these two issues? I know the arguments (at least most of them), but I have the feeling that many of us have different opinions.
To make it a little more interesting, I will start a poll.

I don't have answer to the poll, because I'm not sure about this subject.
It is storage of carbon dioxide from the cars, or industry ?
Where is it store ?
I think that I'm not in favour, because it could be an encouragement to continue to pollute.
I prefer the decrease of the emission of carbon dioxide, of use of cars and trucks and of rejects of industries.
But I don't know really this problem: do you have some links ? |

Hi Sarah!
Yes, I mean the storage of CO2 directly after it comes out of a powerplant. Usually, it will be stored under the ground, f.e. in empty gas-fields. It is not wrong, when you think of nuclear waste. It is almost the same! We humans produce dirt because it is easy and cheap, and afterwards we put the leftovers in some hole and hope future generations will take care. 
But as for nuclear energy: some people think it is a way to counter climate change - even some greens

Yes, that is one of many dangers. I see the biggest problem in keeping the storage-room closed for decades. If CO2 gets out, it could mean a mass-killing as it happened in Afrika (due to natural causes).
